NYPD Arrests Thief who Stole Young Boy’s Scooter

The NYPD has arrested 59-year old Daniel Ufares, the perpetrator who stole, on July 7, the e-scooter of a now 7-year-old Boro Park boy, who was riding the scooter of his older brother Moishe, on 12th Avenue, near 36th Street, while his 18-year-old sister Rachel, watched nearby, Boro Park Shomrim just tweeted.

After using facial recognition digital technology that the NYPD uses to compare images of suspects during criminal investigations, detectives picked up and arrested the perpetrator at his home at 575 Central Avenue #307, sources told BoroPark24.

The police, who are pursuing an ongoing investigation into Ufares's theft, this morning, arrested and charged the perpetrator on the charges of robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.

“ARRESTED!! Thanks to the #TeamWork among the NYPD66Pct, NYPDDetectives, and our Shomrim volunteers, this man was taken into custody this morning,” Boro Park Shomrim tweeted.

Police officers from the 66th Precinct, NYPD detectives, and Boro Park Shomrim worked together to find the perpetrator, who pushed, then 6-year-old Simcha Rottenberg off his scooter, just 12 days ago, at 7:24pm.

On July 13, on Simcha’s 7th birthday, the NYPD, Yanky Meyer, Yonasan Schwartz and Mike, and the Dunn Co. Safety, which trains OSHA workers, today pooled their resources to provide Simcha with a new scooter at the 66th Precinct.

“Everyone should always keep an eye on the kids,” said Rabbi Pinchas Rottenberg, Simcha’s father. “The neighborhood is not always so safe.”
