NYC Returns to Giving Drivers with Unpaid Parking Tickets the Boot
Although, since March 17, 2020, New York City’s Department of Finance temporarily suspended booting cars whose drivers had $350 in unpaid tickets because of the COVID pandemic, yesterday, the city returned to giving cars the boot.
As of yesterday, the Department of Finance resumed booting only vehicles that have $350 or more in camera violation judgment debt, the city’s website said.
When cars are booted, city workers attach devices that prevent drivers from being able to move their car. The city tows any booted cars if their owners do not pay their parking, red light camera, and bus lane violation debts within two days.
