NYC Reaches an Agreement with the Teachers' Union After they Threatened to Strike

On Thursday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the "instructional guidance" agreement between New York City and the largest teachers' union that threatened to strike if their concerns for in-person and remote learning were not addressed.

The union's concerns came two weeks before schools reopen in September.

According to the mayor, the agreement will bring clarity to educators and principals as they prepare to work as a team under these new circumstances.

The unions' strike threats were based mainly on their persistent request for mandatory testing, but a conclusion on the topic has not yet been made.

De Blasio assured that students whose parents have chosen remote learning would have everyday online access.
