NYC Mayor Cancels All Public Non-Essential Events Through June, Likely Includes Lag Bomer Celebrations

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday that all non-essential public events will be canceled through June. The Celebrate Israel parade scheduled for May 5th has been canceled as well.

The Mayor’s announcement also means that Lag Bomer bonfires and celebrations will not be able to take place this year. The cancelations are part of the broader closure and cancelations that are stopping the spread of Coronavirus.

Although the death rate and hospitalizations are coming down, they are still very high and the Governor already announced an extension of the New York PAUSE act until at least May 15th. That order keeps all non-essential businesses closed.
