NYC Lowers Speed Limit by Five Miles on Streets Across the Five Boroughs
According to the New York Times, New York City DOT officials announced Tuesday that they are reducing the speed limit of certain streets. This comes after motor vehicle deaths are up, and accidents are rampant.
They are reducing speed by five miles per hour on nine of the busiest streets across all five boroughs.
The speed limit will be lowered to 25 miles per hour on parts of Riverside Drive in Manhattan and in Brooklyn on streets like Flatbush Avenue, Shore Parkway Service Road, and Dahlgren Place.
Streets in Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx will also have speed limit reductions.
