NYC Airports Break Records in 2024

In 2024, New York City-area airports had their busiest year ever, serving a record 149.9 million passengers, a big jump from 143.8 million in 2023. The continued growth for the second year in a row, with record-breaking numbers, clearly shows the recovery from the pandemic.
Kevin O’Toole, Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, credits the record numbers to the region’s massive $30 billion airport redevelopment plan. “This milestone shows the success of modernizing our airports into world-class travel hubs,” he said. The upgrades include major improvements at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports.
LaGuardia Airport's $8 billion makeover has transformed it into a respectable U.S. airport. JFK and Newark Liberty are also undergoing major redevelopments with new terminals and improved infrastructure.
