Not Giving Up; NYC Health Reinforcing Masks?

By Y.M. Lowy
New York City’s recent call to mask up this winter feels like a relic of the pandemic chaos.
After years of COVID-19 rules that drove everyone crazy, the truth is clear, many reports suggest that masks may not have been as effective as initially believed.. The data doesn’t support this obsession anymore, and it is time for NYC to move forward, trusting residents to make their own health choices without outdated reminders
As posted on X by nycHealthy, “COVID-19, flu, and RSV are all currently spreading in NYC. Wearing a mask in crowded indoor settings can help protect you and protect others if you’re sick.”
Continuing to emphasize mask-wearing in a city where life has largely returned to normal seems unnecessary and out of touch with current reality.
