A two-alarm fire broke out shortly after midnight at an apartment on 20th Avenue and 52nd Street, keeping the FDNY busy in the early hours of the morning.
The fire started around 12:10 AM when a resident returned home and noticed the smell of smoke. Upon investigation, the homeowner spotted a small flame on the roof. The family quickly evacuated the home and called the FDNY.
Despite the rapid spread of flames that engulfed a second home next to the apartment, all residents managed to escape unharmed.
A BoroPark24 reporter, arriving quickly at the scene, wasted no time jumping into action, helping residents escape the growing flames. Luckily no one was injured and all occupants were able to escape the burning homes unharmed.
Chaveirim members also arrived at the scene to lend a hand. Once the fire was extinguished and the home was deemed safe to enter, they immediately got to work cleaning up the house to ensure the family could return for the rest of the night.
