No Free Slurpees This Year on 7-Eleven Day

Every year on July 11th, 7-Eleven gives out free slurpees at all of its stores. However, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nationwide chain will not be giving free slurpees on July 11. Instead, the company will be sending a coupon for a free medium size slurpee to all members of the free 7Rewards loyalty program redeemable on any day in July. This measure will reduce crowding because it will mean that all nine million of the customers who usually come in over the course of one day will rather be coming over the course of a month.

“At 7-Eleven, our top priority is the safety of customers, Franchisees and employees,” said 7-Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt. “Gathering nine million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn’t feel right.”

Additionally, 7-Eleven will be giving a donation of $100,000 to Feeding America - the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the country.
