New Yorkers are Against Bail Reform
A new poll records that the majority of New Yorkers are not in favor of the new bail reform law.
Forty-nine percent of voters report that the new law that eliminates the requirement for setting a monetary bail for a nonviolent misdemeanor is bad for New York.
That is a big difference to when the law was passed last April.
Back then, fifty-five percent of voters were in favor of the law.
The shift in opinion comes in the wake of the antisemitic crimes of late.
Two-thirds of voters reported being in support of 11 of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s State of the State proposals.
Governor Cuomo also saw an uptick in favorability and job performance.
His ratings when up to 49 percent from 44 percent.
The Siena College poll was conducted between January 11th and 16th.
It has an overall margin of error of 4.1 percentage points.
