New Yellow Line Offers Safer Walkway Near 66th Precinct

By Y.M. Lowy

Residents near the 66th Precinct at 59th Street and 16th Avenue were surprised to find a newly painted yellow line on the street, creating a designated walkway for pedestrians between parked cars.

This follows an article on BoroPark24 and a community council meeting where residents raised concerns about improper parking by police officers, including double parking and blocking the sidewalk. These issues had made it difficult for pedestrians, particularly mothers with carriages, to navigate safely. The matter was discussed with the commanding officer in search of a resolution.

Just recently, residents were pleasantly surprised to see the yellow line appear, providing a much-needed walkway between the parked cars.
