New Years Eve Fireworks In Prospect Park Canceled Due To Drought

By Idy Perl
In light of the recent drought, that yes is still here despite the rain and snow, NYC officials have made the decision to cancel the traditional New Years Eve fireworks show in Central Park and Prospect Park. The fate of the fireworks over Times Square and the New York Harbor is still up in the air (no pun intended.)
In mid-November, City Hall canceled all current firework permits throughout NYC as drought conditions worsened, and those conditions are now expected to last through New Years.
Organizers are planning alternative celebrations, such as a drone light show depicting the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge that will be on display in Prospect Park.
