New Report Shows MTA City Bus Service Has Been Slowing Down

You haven’t been imagining it; the MTA buses in Brooklyn have been getting slower. 

A new report from NYC’s Independent Budget Office confirmed what many Brooklyn commuters have been complaining about for a while; the city bus service keeps getting slower. 

The data collected in the report showed that out of all bus lines, the B70 and B15 Brooklyn buses have declined the most in speed since 2019. Despite various initiatives that have been launched to help increase bus speeds, there hasn’t been much improvement since 2019.  

There are several reasons that contribute to this problem, including congestion, insufficient bus lanes, and inconsistent bus lane rules. 

The MTA has responded to the IBO report and has said they are reviewing the data to improve the bus service across the five boroughs.
