New Bill Seeks to End Shabbos Garbage Fines

Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein introduced a bill to fix a city rule that’s been hurting the people in Boro Park.

The NYC Sanitation Department recently made a rule that garbage can’t be put out before 8, but for Shabbos, that’s not possible. Many families have been getting fines just for keeping garbage out.

The new bill would stop the Sanitation Department from giving tickets from Friday 3 PM until Motzei Shabbos 6 PM.
