Block of 57th Street to be Closed for a Month of Digging

National Grid is upgrading its natural gas system to provide safely and reliably to their customers; they are working in Boro Park on 57th street between 14th and 15th avenue.

The company promises to adhere to all COVID-19 safety guidelines set by the CDC, New York State, and local permitting authorities to protect employees, customers, and the public as they work.

Construction began September 10th and is said to be completed after four weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic has and will continue to remain open during construction hours with an onsite traffic flagger to assist vehicles.

National Grid says to expect excavation of the 57th street road and sidewalk during construction. They also warn of temporary street impact near work zones, temporary and then the permanent restoration of disturbed areas, and the marking out of underground utilities within the projects area.
