Nancy Pelosi Orders Impeachment Process Forward
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has ordered The House of Democrats to go ahead with drafting articles of impeachment against the president.
This declaration is after many weeks of public and private hearings regarding the impeachment inquiry by some committees in the House.
On Wednesday, a hearing was held by the House Judiciary Committee with four scholars who held discussions on whether the president’s behavior met the threshold of high crimes and misdemeanors that is cause for impeachment.
The main point in the inquiry is regarding Trump’s effort in having Ukraine open an investigation on his rival in politics, former vice president Joe Biden, with his son Hunter.
Pelosi mentioned the historical reasons for impeachment, claiming that democracy is on the line.
“If we allow a president to be above the law, we do so surely at the peril of our Republic. In America, no one is above the law,” Pelosi said.
Democrats will move quickly, with a full House vote anticipated before Christmas.
If the vote goes through, the Senate is expected to hold a trial early next year.
