In an Op-Ed published in amny.com, MTA president Richard
Davey stated that, by all indicators, his agency has performed very well over
the summer.
“School’s not back in session for another couple of weeks, but New York City Transit has been making the grade all summer long –
maintaining reliable service while increasing frequencies and delivering
critical State of Good repair projects that support our ‘Faster, Cleaner,
Safer’ mandate,” wrote Mr. Davey in an Op-Ed that appeared Sunday on the
website.
Davey cited on-time performance at 84%, and
“service is better than ever during discretionary travel periods like weekends,
thanks in part to a $35 million investment by New York State.”
He also noted many ongoing maintenance and upgrade
projects that will “improve reliability” for New York City subway service in
the future.
