In response to anticipated severe weather conditions, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced a temporary ban on empty tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, and multiple trailers across several New York City bridges due to anticipated high winds. This restriction is in effect until 10 PM, January 9, 2025.
The bridges affected are the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Cross Bay Bridge, Henry Hudson Bridge, Marine Parkway Bridge, and lastly the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.
By restricting these vehicles, the MTA aims to ensure the safety of motorists and workers. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and exercise caution when traveling through these areas.
