A Menorah Lighting was held at the NYPD 66th Precinct last night, celebrating the Holiday of light with community leaders.

In attendance were the CO Captain Kenneth Herrarte, Deputy Chief Richie Taylor, Community Board 12 members, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, Assemblyman-Elect Kalman Yeger, Rabbi Joel Eisdorfer, Rabbi Berish Freilich, and R’ Yakov Eisdorfer.

Six individuals were honored with the candle lighting: the 66th Precinct Commanding Officer, Rabbi Joel Eisdorfer, Charles McEvoy of Brooklyn South, Captain Gary Marcus of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, Lieutenant Denaly of the Hate Crimes Unit, the Squad Lieutenant, and Community Affairs Lieutenant Jablansky.

During the event, BP Shomrim honored Captain Kenneth Herrarte, the Commanding Officer of the 66th Precinct, with a special award. “Whatever our community needs, he listens, he helps, and he is a great asset to our community,”. He understands us and will always work along going the extra mile to make our neighborhood the safest possible and a place we can live and enjoy life in good hands” remarked a representative from BP Shomrim, recognizing Captain Herrarte’s unwavering dedication and support for the neighborhood.
