MCD Brooklyn Correction Officer Arrested For Smuggling Illegal Contraband

A correction officer at the MDC Brooklyn Detention Center right near Boro Park was arrested after he was found trying to smuggle illegal contraband into the prison. 

Najee Jackson, 32, had been working at the center for just about a year when he was found with bags of cigarettes and illegal substances. Jackson was stopped by the metal detector at the entrance of the jail and his colleagues found the items hidden in his vest. 

He quit his job two days later and he was arrested by federal authorities shortly after, before getting released on a $10,000 bond. 

MDC Brooklyn is the city’s only federal jail and has been plagued by violence, terrible conditions, and staffing shortages for years. It houses several high-profile inmates, such as Sean Combs and the alleged CEO assassin Luigi Mangione.
