Mayor Of Linden Visits Boro Park

By Idy Perl
The mayor of Linden, NJ, Mayor Derek Armstead, visited Boro Park today to learn more about where many of his new constituents come from. The growing Linden community includes many transplants from Brooklyn, with a large percentage being Bobov chassidim, which prompted the mayor to visit several Bobov institutions in Boro Park this afternoon.
The mayor, accompanied by prominent Bobov askanim, including Joel Rosenfeld, visited the Bobov shul and girls school in Boro Park, among other institutions, where he met with locals and learned about the community’s roots.
The Mayor also visited the BP Shomrim headquarters, where he met with its leaders and received a report on their efforts to ensure the safety of the community.
During his visit the mayor apologized for derogatory comments he made in the past about chassidim. He expressed a willingness to listen to the community’s concerns and work with us going forward.
