Massive New Center for Torah and Tefillah to Be Built on 18th Avenue

Great joy is being felt among the Satmar kehillah of Boro Park with the closing on a massive property for a new enormous center for Torah and tefillah in the new heart of Boro Park.

The property, which is located on the corner of 18th Avenue and 56th Street, was formerly The Right Place, a legendary men’s clothing store, for many decades.

It was recently purchased by the Satmar kehillah, a shul that is led by Rav Avorhom Meir Halberstam, and currently davens together on Shabbos in the Stoliner beis medrash on 18th and 54th.

The building will be completely transformed from a single-level men’s clothing warehouse into a gigantic, four-floor, 27,000 square foot space dedicated for learning and davening.

One feature that is unique to the Satmar Shuls around the world will be a large “heichal haTorah,” a space exclusively dedicated for Torah learning, on the ground level, with a dedicated entrance on 18th Avenue. A massive mikvah will be built in the basement level, and two floors will be dedicated for a large, cavernous shul and an ezras noshim.

At a l’chaim to celebrate the closing in the home of the Satmar Rebbe, he strongly encouraged the askonim to step up to the work of constructing this massive center which will transform the spiritual landscape of this area, and of all of Boro Park, for decades to come.
