Maimonides Will Remove Tents From Street

As the coronavirus pandemic raged through the streets of Boro Park and up the halls of Maimonides hospital, executives at the healthcare institution feared overcrowding and constructed tents outside their building to handle an anticipated increase in patient load.

Building the tents had an adverse effect of cutting off traffic on 10th Avenue. After extensive conversations between hospital leadership and community leaders, the hospital has agreed to remove the tent from 10th Avenue and allow car traffic to pass once again.

District Manager Barry Spitzer told BoroPark24 “We are happy that there is b”h no need for this tent anymore and we hope that there isn’t going to be one in the future. We thank Maimonides for working with us and listening to the concerns of our residents.”

City Councilman Kalman Yeger adds that "At the beginning of the pandemic, Maimonides needed the ability to quickly expand in case of, chas v'shalom, an influx of patients beyond its physical capacity. Now that the number of incoming patients are so heavily reduced, it is time to return 10th Avenue back to the people. I'm glad Maimonides has agreed to restore the street to the community by this Friday."
