The Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program will provide an additional $300 in weekly benefits to unemployed New Yorkers beginning next week, the New York State Department of Labor announced.
Over 2.4 million New Yorkers are eligible for the program, and an additional 435,00 need to submit one other form to qualify.
New York State issued $43.7 billion in unemployment funds to 3.5 million New Yorkers during the coronavirus pandemic. The amount was distributed over six months when it typically covers 20 years' worth of benefits.
