Late-Night Drama: MTA Bus Slams into Burger King as Driver Suffers Medical Episode

A dramatic late-night crash occurred when an MTA B16 bus drove into the Burger King restaurant at Caton Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway

The incident occurred at 12:11 AM when the 60-year-old bus driver suffered a sudden medical episode, causing the bus to veer off the street and into the fast-food establishment.

The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to the hospital in serious condition. Remarkably, the two female passengers aboard the bus at the time escaped without injury, with one of them stepping up with medical assistance to the seriously injured driver until the Emergency Services arrived.

The owner of this Burger King location, shared early this morning with BoroPark24, "Thank G-d we closed our store literally around ten minutes before, at 12 AM, and therefore no workers or customers were in the store."

"The crash has caused significant damage to the restaurant, and I estimate that renovations will take a considerable amount of time as investigations and multiple agencies still need to secure the structure and investigate the scene," he explained.

The scene went on all night as multiple media agencies, along with various city agencies, gathered to investigate, observe up close, and determine the story just hours after it happened.

At 4:50am, the towing truck started to pull the bus from the wreckage. All surrounding streets were then opened for traffic after hours-long closures. 

The MTA confirmed with BoroPark24 that there are no interruptions on the B16 route due to this incident, and transit is running as usual.
