Keren Yeshua Offers Low-Priced Pesach Essentials for Anyone in Need, Wed. Deadline for Ordering

 By Yehudit Garmaise

In the weeks before Pesach last year, in the height of the pandemic, Rabbi Yoel Usher Labin, the rav of Kahal Chasidim in Toms River, NJ, a friend, and three anonymous and generous donors saw that Yidden needed a yeshua.

“We saw what was going on, and it was chaos,” Rabbi Labin remembered. “And a lot of the usual chesed projects could not take place because a lot of the askanim themselves were in the hospital, along with so many others.”

Wanting to help K’lal Yisroel in any way possible, Rabbi Labin saw that in addition to everything else, many Yidden needed lower-priced Pesach food.

After many individuals and companies gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund the program that would provide essential Pesach groceries and paper goods at warehouse prices, the baalei chesed decided to name their non-for-profit organization Keren Yeshua, or Fund of Salvation.

“We are able to sell food at the cheapest possible prices: 20% below wholesale for everyone, 50% for those who are really struggling, and free for families with windows and orphans,” explained Rabbi Labin, who added that staples, such as juice, seltzer, potatoes, onions, eggs, fruit, and paper goods are all for sale at rock-bottom prices.

“We are trying to offer all of the most important kinds of products,” explained Rabbi Labin, who added that last year Keren Yeshua provided low-cost groceries to 700 families, or as he put it, “thousands of nefashos.”

Because many men and boys purchase new tzitzis before Pesach, Keren Yeshua, also sells at low prices a variety of sizes of tallesim kattan for boys and men.

Although order forms were not yet online last year, this year, Rabbi Labin said that ordering through Keren Yeshua could not be easier. Readers can just click, https://kyh.hershyhcorp.com/, and place their orders.

The deadline for orders, however, is Wednesday, March 17, at 3pm. Although anyone is welcome to place orders, Rabbi Labin said, the pickup will be in the parking lot at Lucky Trucks, which is located at 6302 17th Ave.

The pick-up times are later this week, March 18 to 21: Thursday, 4pm to 11pm, Friday, from 11am to 4pm, Motzei Shabbos, from 9:30am to 2pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 12am.

Participants in the Keren Yeshua program, however, should remember to drive their largest vehicles to pick up their orders.

“We are bringing very large boxes and palettes," Rabbi Labin said. “People might need 15-passenger vans for all the boxes.”
