Israel to Grant Entry to Most Tourists on July 1

Israel will be allowing in tourists, who are from countries with low COVID-19 infection rates, such as the U.S., starting on Thursday, July 1, the country’s Interior Ministry announced today.

Tourists, whether they are arriving individually or with group tours, will be allowed automatic entries into Israel, without the need for prior approval.

Only tourists who have gotten their shots with particular vaccines, which will announced in the coming days, will be admitted entry to Israel, which is among the countries with the highest vaccination rates, among their total populations, in the world.

For the next 11 days, however, tourists who would like to visit Israel must continue to apply for approval and show proof that they have been vaccinated for COVID-19, before arriving.

Prior to July 1, unvaccinated tourists, for whom Israel grants entry, will be required to remain in isolation 10 to 14 days, say the Health Ministry’s guidelines. Unvaccinated children under the age of six also will be allowed to enter the country, when the Health Ministry approves the entry of their parents.

For the next week and a half, however, Israel will not allow in tourists from countries, such as India, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, and Argentina, which still have high COVID-19 infections rates, although a special committee will be making exceptions to this temporary ban.

Israel now allows its citizen to travel abroad freely, with the exception of those countries that continue to show high rates of COVID infection, although the exceptions committee also will evaluate Israelis’ requests to travel to the countries that are currently blacklisted.

The Israeli foreign ministry will allow most foreign nationals, or people who live in Israel, but are not naturalized citizens, to enter and leave Israel without restrictions.
