iPhone Users say Apple’s Latest Update Kills Battery Life

Users of iPhone models old and new, who have installed Apple’s latest software, iOS 14.6, are complaining that the update is draining their batteries: killing full charges in just a few hours.

“My battery life on iOS 14.6 is terrible,” wrote one user on Twitter on May 24, the day the update was released. “Is it just me or anyone is experiencing this too?”

One the day iOS 14.6 was released, YouTube channel iAppleBytes demonstrated the poor battery performance of phones that were using the update by showing seven iPhone models running iOS 14.6 that die within three to five hours.

Apple typically releases major software updates each fall to go with new iPhone models, but the tech giant rolls out smaller updates throughout the year to provide new features and patch bugs or other defects.

Apple may reveal its next major update at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, which is scheduled to take place virtually next week.
