Indoor Dining Returns Today at 25% Capacity, After Six Months
After six months, New York City indoor dining finally returns today at 25 percent capacity.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says this is only an experiment. If the city’s positive infection rate, calculated over a seven-day rolling average, hits three percent, indoor dining may need to shut again.
Although this is a huge step forward for the restaurant industry, not all establishments will reopen. Andrew Rigie, who heads the NYC Hospitality Alliance, said for most, the indoor dining capacity total is too small, and it just wouldn’t be profitable for them to reopen.
