Holland Tunnel Will Close Overnight Through 2025

The Port Authority announced on Tuesday that the New Jersey-bound side of the Holland Tunnel would be closed during off-peak hours beginning February 5.
Construction began in 2020 to repair damage caused by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Repairs and storm resiliency projects will end at 5 a.m. on February 4, much to the relief of drivers traveling via the New York-bound side of the Holland Tunnel.
The partial closure for the New Jersey-bound side will begin on February 5 and run nightly, excluding Saturdays and major holidays. The nightly closure will start from 11 p.m. through 5:30 a.m., aside from Fridays, which will begin at 11:59 p.m. through 9:00 a.m.
The Port Authority announced that these closures will be in effect until at least the end of 2025 and advised drivers to use alternate routes, like the George Washington Bridge or Lincoln Tunnel, during those hours.
