By BoroPark24 Staff

The race for the City Council's 44th district seat is heating up, with Heshy Tischler and Moshe Friedman filing their candidacy.

The seat is expected to become vacant on January 1st, when Kalman Yeger is sworn in as a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 41st District.

Tischler, a repeat election-runner, and Friedman, a resident of Boro Park, join Senator Simcha Felder, who has also filed to run for the seat. The special election, which will be scheduled by the NYC Mayor, is anticipated to take place in late February or early March.
