Hertz Plans to Expand NYC Electric Car Fleet and Charging Station Availability

Hertz Global, the third largest rental car company in the U.S., is working on finalizing a deal with Revel to lease electric cars in New York City in a possible partnership, according to On The Money.
Revel, which offers an all-electric Uber-like car service, started five years ago as a scooter app.
Since recovering from bankruptcy, Hertz has prioritized an electric fleet with a goal of making a quarter of its fleet electric by the end of 2024.
Given that Revel plans to add more than 100 ultra-fast charging super hubs in the five new charging facilities it has in the works that can charge an electric vehicle in as little as 10 or 20 minutes, the partnership is a necessary one for Hertz in NYC where public charging infrastructure is lacking.
This partnership is in addition to the $4 billion deal Hertz made in October of 2021 to pay for 100,000 Model 3 Teslas to overhaul its electric fleet and another allowing Uber drivers to rent Hertz cars.
