Gov. Hochul Demands Investigation After Subway Power Outage

As reported earlier by BoroPark24, Wednesday evening’s subway chaos left thousands of riders stranded underground for hours. Now, Governor Kathy Hochul is calling for an immediate investigation into the incident.
According to the MTA, the power loss, which occurred around 5:30 p.m., was triggered by an underground fire. This disrupted service on the A, C, F, and G lines. The process of evacuating passengers took several hours, and some had to exit via maintenance tunnels, leading to reports of further confusion and frustration.
In a statement, Hochul said, “No one deserves to be trapped underground or face such delays. I’ve directed the MTA and Con Edison to fully review what happened and ensure it never happens again. We must invest in fixing our subway system.”
Consolidated Edison is also investigating the power failure. Hochul stressed the importance of transparency and accountability to ensure such disruptions do not happen again.
