Gov. Cuomo Says Decision on Sleepaway Camps to Come Next Week

New York - Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Thursday that a decision about summer sleepaway camps will be announced next week, as the state is still reviewing the recently discovered Kawasaki-like disease in children.

Gov. Cuomo said he’s making the decision “as if it were my daughter,” adding that “today, I would not be willing to send my daughter to sleepaway camp. If I’m not sending my daughter, I’m not going to tell you you can send your child.”

The governor previously announced that summer day camps will be allowed to open June 29, with guidelines to be announced in the coming days.
