Gov. Cuomo May Deploy the National Guard to Staff Polling Places on Election Day

After holding the National Guard on standby this past summer while riots stormed New York City, Governor Andrew Cuomo is finally ready to pull them out of hiding to staff polling places on election day The Post Reported

On Monday, during a teleconference, Cuomo told reporters that he might be ready to deploy troops to ensure the November 3rd presidential election gives every voter the ability to cast an in-person ballot.

Cuomo also said that he was ready to have state and local government employees fill in for poll workers halted by the coronavirus even though election day is recognized as a legal holiday in New York.

Anyone working that day would be granted overtime pay or another day off.
