Formula-Buying Thieves Scamming Local Groceries

By Idy Perl
Local groceries are reporting a serial scammer duo who have been going around to local groceries and scamming the grocery out of large quantities of baby formula.
A pair of males have gone to multiple local groceries and checked out bottles of formula. When they need to pay, they pretend to have forgotten their credit card and provide a credit card number instead.
Once they leave, they dispute the charge and are nowhere to be found, leaving the grocery stores with a large loss. Multiple groceries around Boro Park and in surrounding neighborhoods have already lost a lot of money to these thieves.
Shomrim, which has received multiple calls about this growing issue, is urging the public to remain vigilant when dealing with customers attempting to purchase products without providing accurate payment information.
