Flu Cases Skyrocket In New York

Health officials are encouraging New Yorkers to get the flu shot as flu cases skyrocket in the city. 

By January 25, more than 23,000 people had tested positive for the flu in NYC, bringing the number of flu cases higher than they’ve been during peaks in the last 5 years. 

Cases are also rising across the entire state, with nearly 52,000 cases reported as of January 25, according to the state health department. Thousands of people have been hospitalized due to influenza this year, and one child death has been reported due to the flu. 

Make sure to wash your hands frequently, be cautious with germs, and get tested if you feel the onset of flu symptoms.
