Flagstar Bank to Replace New York Community Bank on 13th Avenue

Yet another change is coming to the landscape of Thirteenth Avenue, this time with the changeover of a bank to another name.
New York Community Bank has been located at the corner of 13th Avenue and 45th Street for close to a decade. Over the weekend, the signage was changed to Flagstar, and the branch, which had closed last week, will reopen under that name.
The change is not as big as it may seem, since Flagstar is a subsidiary of New York Community Bank.
A Wikipedia entry on Flagstar reads in part: “Flagstar Bank is an American commercial bank headquartered in Troy, Michigan. A wholly owned subsidiary of New York Community Bank, Flagstar is one of the largest residential mortgage servicers in the United States, and was among the largest banks in the United States prior to its acquisition in 2022.”
