First Map of Zip Codes Shows Corona Deaths Spread Across NYC

New York - Heimishe neighborhoods were hit hard by the coronavirus, but were not more fatal than any other borough in New York City, the first map divided by zip codes released by the city shows.

The map, published by the health department on Monday, shows minority areas such as East New York in Brooklyn, Flushing in Queens and Pelham Gardens in the Bronx among the neighborhoods hit hardest by the virus. These had over 400 deaths per 100,000 residents.

The most deaths in Brooklyn were seen in 11239 zip code, which encompasses the Starrett City housing development, whose 76 deaths equaled 612 deaths per 100,000 residents. In the city overall, the deadliest was in Queens’ East Elmhurst, whose 1,504 deaths equaled 4,125 per 100,000 residents.

Boro Park’s two zip codes, 11219 and 11204, had 339 deaths together. There were 119 in Williamsburg and 74 in Bensonhurst.
