Eagle Team Flying in to Save the Day for MTA

Eagle Team Flying in to Save the Day for MTA

by M.C. Millman

To crack down on fare evasion on buses, the MTA is deploying the Eagle Team, a specialized uniformed security squad.

"These are revenue fare enforcement agents," MTA Chair Janno Lieber announced Thursday. "Unarmed, they are not armed like our NYPD partners. But they are there to make sure that the fares are paid,"

The Evasion and Graffiti Lawlessness Eradication or Eagle Team is supported by the NYPD. Squad members will not only board local buses but will work at bus hubs and bus stops as well in an effort to combat the $315 million fare evaders have cost the MTA over the past year.
