DSS Commissioner Meets with Community Leaders in Boro Park, Recalls Longtime Relationship

The Boro Park Jewish Community Council hosted NYC Commissioner of Social Services Gary Jenkins Thursday morning, with the attendance of community leaders and BPJCC board members.

“Commissioner Jenkins joined us to renew longstanding ties, and to chart a way forward toward even greater mutual cooperation in bringing vital resources to the Boro Park community,” said BPJCC CEO Avi Greenstein.

Among the issues discussed were programs to assist members of the community in gaining fruitful employment, so they no longer need to rely on public assistance, which the commissioner pledged would be available to them so long as they are in need.

The commissioners’ ties to our community go back to his days as the administrator of the social services department, and has a personal relationship with many askonim in the Boro Park community.
