DSNY Issued 28,000 Tickets for New Yorker who Put Out Garbage Early

The Sanitation Department went on a ticketing spree, issuing more than 28,000 tickets to New Yorkers—residential and commercial— who put out their trash too early. This is more than double the summonses issued during the same time last year.
This comes after the city changed the time to put out trash to 8:00 in the evening following trash pickup in an effort to combat the rat population.
This also comes as the city is taking other measures related to trash handling in an effort to combat rat, and other vermin, populations.
