DSNY Cracks Down on Illegal Dumping in Boro Park

Dumping of items such as couches and construction material is illegal—and comes with heavy fines and punishment, as one Boro Park resident recently found out.

The resident in question got rid of construction debris in a corner garbage can on 61st Street, an area which is unfortunately a frequent dumping ground. Before he knew it, enforcement officers descended upon the area and levied him a $4000 fine and impounded his vehicle.

According to a source, the enforcement officers sit in unmarked vehicles and utilize video surveillance footage to enforce dumping laws.

Boro Park residents are advised to pay heed to this enforcement program, and get rid of their trash in a legal manner.
