Drunk Driver Flees the Scene After Slamming Into House On 59th Street

by Mindy Cohn

A drunk driver drove into a house on 59th Street and  17th Avenue before fleeing the scene.

NYPD, with Shomrim's assistance, began canvassing the area. The suspect was located shortly after that, hidden in a thicket of bushes. Although he was tased, he still managed to flee yet again. This time, he ran through a construction site, ultimately ending up in the backyard of a  neighboring home, where he broke in through the back door. NYPD and Shomrim found him hiding on the third floor.

The driver was arrested and then transported to the hospital due to injuries. A pedestrian injured during the incident was transported by Hatzolah to the hospital as well.

The accident scene is presently being treated as a crime scene, as drugs and valuables were discovered inside the vehicle. There is also the distinct possibility that the vehicle was stolen.
