DOT Re-Installs Speed Bumps Along 21st Ave After Neighbors, Electeds Plead for Safety

The Department of Transportation has re-installed today's speed-bumps along 21st Avenue between 57th Street and 53rd Street after neighbors and local elected officials pleaded with the DOT to get those safety bumps installed.

The speed-bumps were originally installed on the long stretch of 21st Avenue as there is no intersection across the Avenue, causing many vehicles to just speed down the long stretch. The speeding vehicles are a major safety concern, local residents have said.

When the DOT resurfaced the Avenue last year, the speed bumps were never installed. Concerned neighbors reached out to Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and Councilman Kalman Yeger who then pleaded with the DOT to have those re-installed.

Assemblyman Eichenstein and Councilman Yeger visited the Avenue on Thursday and thanked the DOT workers for installing the safety bumps in the neighborhood.
