DOT Creates New Platform To Report Areas Bursting with Double-Parking

By Yehudit Garmaise

New Yorkers can tell the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) that their neighborhoods need dedicated loading zones for passengers or goods by providing information about areas that regularly see excessive double-parking.

“We want New Yorkers to help us pin down double-parking and blocked bus and bike lanes across our city,” said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. “Our new web platform will empower New Yorkers to join the conversation about where problems exist and where we can build new loading zones across the five boroughs.”

From December 24, 2021, to March 2023, the DOT installed more than 2,000 new loading zones citywide, and the agency plans to add at least 500 new loading zones in 2023 and 2024 each using the public feedback it gathers at https://nycdotprojects.info/project-feedback-map/loading-zone-comment-map.

To report unusually congested areas, rife with double-parked cars, New Yorkers identify overly congested areas by placing a pin on an online map and adding comments.
