DOT Closes Several Streets to Level, Repave, and Improve the Roads this Week

Several Boro Park streets will be closed today until Thursday, as part of a city effort to repave and improve the roads for New York City drivers, the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) NYCStreets Pavement Works announced this morning.

The NYC Streets agency also will be making the city’s roads more drivable through a process called road milling, in which workers grind off the extra inches of uneven surfaces of paved areas, such as roads, bridges, or parking lots, to level and smooth the roads.

“The milling process is noisy and may cause discomfort in affected neighborhoods for several days,” the DOT says on its website. “Much of the work is done at night in order to minimize disruptions to traffic.

The following is the schedule, which is subject to change due to inclement weather or other emergencies, for which roads will be closed in Boro Park this week:

Today, Mon. July 19, during the day,:  41st Street will be closed from Fort Hamilton Parkway to Dahill Road.

Tues., July 20, during the day: 42nd Street will be closed from 8th Ave. to Dahill Road.

Wed., July 21, during the day: 42nd Street will be closed from 8th Ave. to Dahill Road.

Thursday, July 22, at night:  13th Avenue will be closed from 36th to 46th Street.

Friday, July 23, at night: 13th Avenue will be closed from 36th to 46th Street.
