DMV Extends Hours to Help New Yorkers Get a Real ID

By Y.M. Lowy
Getting a Real ID is about to get easier. The New York DMV is extending hours and adding more appointments to help people meet the upcoming deadline.
Starting next Thursday, certain DMV offices in New York City and Long Island will open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The DMV is also increasing the number of daily appointments, making it easier to secure a spot. This follows the DMV’s recent addition to offer weekend service for Real ID applications.
Starting May 7, a Real ID or Enhanced ID will be required to board domestic flights in the U.S. Without one, travelers will need a passport or another TSA-approved document to fly.
