DFS Will Allow Insurance Claims to be Processed by Out-of-State Independent Insurance Adjusters

On Monday, Governor Cuomo announced that DFS will temporarily allow qualified out-of-state independent insurance adjusters to expedite claims, claimants can submit proof of claims with photograph and video recordings.

After Tropical Storm Isaias passed over the east coast, it left many fallen trees, a lot of flash flooding, and more than 920,000 power outages.

With an insane influx of storm-generated damage inflicted on New York, insurers are having a hard time processing claims. To help New Yorkers get their settlements paid and property repaired faster, more insurance adjusters are needed.

When businesses are already suffering due to the coronavirus pandemic, the insurance industry must step up and do whatever it takes to process claims quickly.

"With many families and small businesses already experiencing financial hardship from the pandemic, it is critical that New Yorkers impacted by the storm are able to easily submit claims and quickly receive a resolution," Cuomo said.
