Detective Agosta Retires After 39 Years

Detective Stephen Agosta has retired after 39 years of service with the NYPD, with over 20 years spent as the Community Affairs Officer for the 62nd Precinct.
The precinct celebrated his final day with a heartfelt post on X, saying, “With 39 years of service, and over 20 years of those as your 62 Precinct Community Affairs Officer, we reluctantly say goodbye and wish him all the best in retirement. Thank you, Steve, for everything.”
Assistant Chief Charles McEvoy also praised Agosta’s dedication, writing on X, “Congratulations to Det. Agosta on his well-earned retirement after 39 years of dedicated service to the NYPD and the @NYPD62Pct. Your commitment and sacrifice have made a lasting impact. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter!”
Mark Treyger, CEO of JCRC-NY, shared his admiration for Agosta, calling him “one of the best and most honorable public servants I’ve ever worked with. Accessible, responsive, and always helpful. He is a legend in our community, and we are forever grateful for his extraordinary service to Southern Brooklyn and NYC.”
